What Are the Kyoto Guidelines for sustainable tourism?

The City of Kyoto and Kyoto City Tourism Association (DMO KYOTO) have established these guidelines with the goal of fostering sustainable tourism in Kyoto through mutual respect among all those connected to tourism.

To ensure that Kyoto remains Kyoto for generations to come, these guidelines are meant to be valued and upheld collectively—by tourism businesses and their employees, by visitors, and by the citizens who call Kyoto home. By acting in accordance with these guidelines from each respective position, we can help pass Kyoto on to the future.

About the Logo

The logo symbolizing the Kyoto Guidelines for sustainable tourism represents visitors, businesses, and residents through three human-shaped motifs, expressing the idea that everyone works together to shape and uphold the guidelines.

The rounded, corner-free design conveys kindness and consideration, while the vivid colors reflect the hope and brightness that lie at their core.

An English version of the logo has also been created so that international visitors can easily understand and engage with the message. We encourage you to make use of it.
