We would like to introduce our efforts to spread and enlighten Kyoto tourism morals.

Raising awareness of manners and morals using the city bulletin board
April 1, 2025 - April 15, 2025
"MIND YOUR MANNERS" posters will be displayed on Kyoto City information boards, which are set up in approximately 7,500 locations throughout the city, to raise awareness of proper etiquette among tourists walking through the city.

"Excellence in Ethical and Sustainable Tourism Business Practices" Award in 2024
March 28, 2025
In order to promote the spread and further practice of the "Kyoto Tourism Ethics," the "Excellence in Ethical and Sustainable Tourism Business Practices" Award has been held since fiscal year 2022. This year, an awards ceremony will be held to recognize 26 businesses that are engaged in excellent activities in accordance with the Kyoto Tourism Ethics.

Raising awareness of manners and morals using the hotel magazine "Kyoto Tourist Concierge"
March 10, 2025 - September 9, 2025
In order to raise awareness of manners and morals when sightseeing in Kyoto and to allow people to learn about their specific details in a fun way, we will be placing advertisements in the hotel magazine "Kyoto Tourism Concierge." The magazine will be placed in each guest room (approximately 20,000 rooms) of approximately 800 hotels, inns, and guest houses in Kyoto City.

We distributed digital advertisements targeted at people planning to visit Kyoto and those currently visiting the city to raise awareness of proper etiquette.

In collaboration with Keihan Bus Co., Ltd., we placed flyers for "MIND YOUR MANNERS" and "Kyoto Machiketto" in the seat pockets of Kansai International Airport limousine buses.
Raising awareness of manners and morals using digital signage
From November 18, 2024
Digital signage installed at Kyoto Station, Karasuma-Oike Station on the subway, Kyoto Porta, JR West stations, and other locations displays educational content such as "MIND YOUR MANNERS" and "Encouragement for 'Hands-Free' Tourism in Kyoto" to encourage people to improve their tourist etiquette.

Launch of "LINK! LINK! LINK!", a portal site that connects daily life and tourism, and hosting a campaign exclusively for city residents

In order to further expand the circle of sympathy, we have launched a portal site for Kyoto residents called "LINK! LINK! LINK!" which provides easy-to-understand information on city residents-only services such as discounts offered by tourism-related businesses, the significance and benefits of tourism to Kyoto, and the challenges and solutions that it faces.
Publication of Kyoto Tourism Ethics Map
Distributed after November 16, 2024
The Kyoto Tourist Etiquette Map, which promotes tourist morals and etiquette in Kyoto, is available at the Kyoto General Tourist Information Center, the Kyoto City Tourist Association Secretariat, and other locations.
It can be viewed and downloaded from Kyonavi Online.

"Tourist etiquette awareness campaign in the south side of Gion-machi" implemented

As part of measures to promote good tourist etiquette in the Gion-cho Minamigawa area, a "Tourist Etiquette Awareness Campaign by Government, Academics and Citizens" was implemented in collaboration with Kyoto City, Kyoto City Tourism Association, Gion-cho Minamigawa Area Council, Kyoto Women's University, Ryukoku University, and travel-related organizations.
Kyoto Tourism Morality Declaration Campaign

In order to help visitors to Kyoto experience the city's charms more deeply, we have launched the "Kyoto Tourism Morals Declaration" campaign. This campaign encourages people who love Kyoto to declare their proper manners and attitude when sightseeing in Kyoto.

In order to raise awareness of Kyoto's tourism ethics among tourists and Kyoto residents, an event was held to introduce the "Kyoto Tourism Ethics" and have tourists and Kyoto residents themselves declare that they will behave in accordance with the Kyoto Tourism Ethics.

Creation and implementation of model tours on manners and moral awareness using Kyoto City certified interpreter guides
Every day from October 2nd to October 21st, 2023
We have created a moral and manners awareness tour departing from Kyoto Station for foreign tourists using a Kyoto City certified interpreter guide (Kyoto City Visitors Host). Through the tour, we will educate foreign tourists by teaching them about Kyoto's history and culture, as well as morals and manners such as empty-handed sightseeing, proper behavior on trains, and taking garbage home with them.

"Excellence in Ethical and Sustainable Tourism Business Practices" Award in 2023

In order to promote the dissemination and further implementation of the "Kyoto Tourism Ethics," we have established the "Excellence in Ethical and Sustainable Tourism Business Practices" Award.
In fiscal year 2022, 25 businesses were selected as recipients of the award, and an award ceremony was held.

Seminar on attracting more customers to restaurants in the pandemic

A seminar was held to teach the basic use of Google Business Profile, which is important for restaurants to attract more customers, how to achieve results, and how to use Instagram, in accordance with the Kyoto Tourism Code of Conduct (Kyoto Tourism Etiquette), which aims to create a sustainable tourism in Kyoto.

Cleaning activities by industry volunteers before accepting tourists

In preparation for welcoming tourists, about 50 people, including maiko (apprentice geisha) and employees of ryokan and hotels, conducted cleanup activities to beautify the streets in Kyoto City's central downtown area.
Kyoto tourism moral workshop held

Volunteers from the industry and students from Kyoto University's Tourism MBA program were invited to participate in a total of four workshops to come up with ideas for promotional and educational tools that will help people take the first step toward practicing Kyoto Tourism Etiquette.
