We would like to introduce our efforts to spread and enlighten Kyoto tourism morals.

Creation and implementation of model tours on manners and moral awareness using Kyoto City certified interpreter guides

Every day from October 2nd to October 21st, 2023

We have created a moral and manners awareness tour departing from Kyoto Station for foreign tourists using a Kyoto City certified interpreter guide (Kyoto City Visitors Host). Through the tour, we will educate foreign tourists by teaching them about Kyoto's history and culture, as well as morals and manners such as empty-handed sightseeing, proper behavior on trains, and taking garbage home with them.

Destination: Arashiyama area/Fushimi Inari area total 2 courses

Awareness activities using municipal public relations boards​

September 16th to September 30th, 2023

On the approximately 7,500 municipal bulletin boards installed in the city, we will post educational media about ``Kyoto Tourism Morals'' and etiquette to educate tourists walking around the city.

2023 “Award for Excellent Businesses Promoting Sustainable Kyoto Tourism”

March 24, 2023

A seminar was held to teach the basic use of Google Business Profile, which is important for restaurants to attract more customers, how to achieve results, and how to use Instagram, in accordance with the Kyoto Tourism Code of Conduct (Kyoto Tourism Etiquette), which aims to create a sustainable tourism in Kyoto.

Recruitment of promotion declaration businesses

In order to expand the base of tourism-related businesses that promote initiatives in line with Kyoto tourism morals, we will begin recruiting businesses that declare the promotion of Kyoto tourism morals.

March 2021

A promotional video was created to inform people in the Tokyo metropolitan area about Kyoto Tourism Etiquette, and it was broadcast on digital signage in trains.

We conducted a campaign for a deeper appreciation and enjoyment of Kyoto for those who agreed with Kyoto Tourism Etiquette and showed their vaccination certificates.

Cleaning activities by industry volunteers before accepting tourists

October 27th, 2021

In preparation for welcoming tourists, about 50 people, including maiko (apprentice geisha) and employees of ryokan and hotels, conducted cleanup activities to beautify the streets in Kyoto City's central downtown area.

Kyoto tourism moral workshop held

September 2nd, September 9th, September 28th, November 4th, 2021

Volunteers from the industry and students from Kyoto University's Tourism MBA program were invited to participate in a total of four workshops to come up with ideas for promotional and educational tools that will help people take the first step toward practicing Kyoto Tourism Etiquette.

Kyoto sightseeing comfort level map to help avoid crowds

We provide useful information for avoiding congestion, by forecasting comfort levels around popular spots, real-time information from live cameras, and attractive sightseeing spots that are relatively empty even during the daytime.

We have introduced a plan for those who have refrained from going out for a long period of time due to the spread of COVID-19, so that they can continue to enjoy Kyoto's history and culture with peace of mind, while taking care of their health and safety.
